Todays weather

This week doesn't look like much fun. More the lows, since I will be leaving for work in them.

My daughter sent me a video on how to stretch and warm up before I shovel snow.

Then she remembered that I don't even own a snow shovel and we laughed and laughed.....

My daughter lives near East Liverpool, Ohio and said that they got a foot of snow.

lucky Kim went up to the parents place....neg 20...they needed to hay bale the north wall...froze the kitchen...we just redid it all last year so that could have been disaster....they got it going before any visible damage...no leaks so far.

i suspect i will be tearing the outer siding wall off and reworking that in summer sometime....and building a new front deck.

took her 3 hours longer to get home that to go up north. they got a few feet total...

at home it was supposed to be 1-6 in total....they got over a foot.

they are whoopin the explorer like a rented mule at the house plowing. but its been taking the beating so far. probably get some chains for the tractor.

Its 8 here this morning, high of 14 around 12/1. Around then I’ll head to my parents to plow them out, they live in a wooded area so there shouldn’t be any drifting. just not sure yet where the snow can be shoved, may have to pile it in the open area of the yard. They live on a narrow backroad 2 miles outside of a small town. Will probably park the escape & trailer there & drive the tractor the rest of the way in. 2 miles is better than the whole 11 from my house. Towing with a front-drive in this could get interesting. That shortbed 2wd F150 with a 5-speed/300 for $800 that I saw on marketplace is looking pretty tempting right now.

Showing -2 at 6:20 a.m. With a high of 17* today.

bobby wants to shoot our 2wd 300-6 5 speed in the face right now.....

he needs more ant and less grasshopper.... most of the stuff to make it 4x4 for free he has drove right by over a dozen times since summer...

i dont have time like that... nearly 8 hours of driving to get parts for a rig i dont drive with a honey do list 8 miles long... any fair weather when i iam rarely home is scheduled.

i would rather tow that tractor with the escape

Hotlanta update, 8:00am Monday:

21° outside heading up for a high of 32°. Bright sun already, pretty windy. Forecast is low in the teens to highs in the 30s or 40s all week.

Ice was washed off the vehicles by the rain, and the vehicles are mostly dry. Nothing sitting on the asphalt, concrete or my bricks. Still a little bit of thin ice on my wooden back steps, but I don’t see it anywhere else. I don’t understand that one.

Majority of the schools around Atlanta canceled classes yesterday as a precaution, but other than that, I think it’s going to be just another Monday, just a little colder.

I’m still praying for all you guys and your families who are going through the worst of it.

I am extremely impressed with all the guys talking about plowing or shoveling their driveways, and then helping with the neighbors, or running over to their parents house to take care of them. I am honored to be in the company of such men.

I also remember coming to Atlanta, and not really liking the company I came for, and when they transferred me back up north, there was no way I was leaving Atlanta. Every now and then something like this reminds me why…

My neighbor across the street is a young guy, his dad passed away unexpectedly a couple years ago and his mom moved to a senior citizen apartment building and sold him the house.
He was "shoveling" his sidewalk with a large dustpan.
Apparently he never had the presence of mind to buy a snow shovel.
My kids call that "adulting". Doing grown-up things like your parents did.

I was scheduled to go to work at 12:30. They just asked the afternoon crew if anyone can go in early. So I'm getting ready. Just walked to the Ranger and didn't leave any footprints. Got the door open. That's victory #1.
