28° last night after a couple pretty cold days, but it’s supposed to go into the low 50s today. Looking forward 10 days, it’s supposed to be upper 30s or 40s in the evening and highs in the 60s or 70s.

Having lives here since ‘79, I’ve seen a couple cold snaps in March, but they’re very unusual. So the focus is going to shift to cleaning up the yard, Scott’s turf builder and seed, trimming weeds and vines and such, before it all starts growing in earnest (It’s already sprouting everywhere).

And I’m getting around much better, so I’m even going to throw out all the old wooden chairs sitting around the yard. A fresh spring awakening in a couple different ways! Woo hoo!

It was high 30's on Wednesday and got some mud started, then it cooled off and we got 4-5" of wet heavy snow that I plowed yesterday. It's 32 and sunny now but at 8 am it was 30, the wind was cranking, and it snowed so hard we had a white out for 10-15 minutes. I'm ignoring the snow because we're supposed to get more plowable snow on Sunday.

It was 73 yesterday, 41 this morning, and 70 right now with clear weather and a good view of the snowy Sierra Nevada from the 6th floor.

9:45 in Hotlanta and all is quiet.

There’s a storm front coming that’s been sprinkling tornadoes like raindrops since Louisiana. It’s supposed to start raining here within the hour, and then there’s a tornado warning (not watch) from 12 until 4 AM.

I was hit April 9, 1998 just after midnight. If it hits me again, I’m going to take the insurance money and run….

Update

11:55 now. Now there’s constant coverage of the weather with the storm approaching on wSB/ABC.

The storm front is approaching at approximately 70 mph. That’s pretty amazing. Right now, Air outside is still very calm. There have been thunderstorm rumbles for about 15 minutes, and some really brilliant flashes of lightning far away and high up in the air. Very unusual. .

That storm front is supposed to come over me in about 30 minutes, about 12:30. I took my routine nighttime drugs, but I didn’t take the sleeping pill in case something happens.

Being a Boy Scout, I charged my flashlights, I put some quilts and blankets in the downstairs hallway, which is where I’ll dive. If it goes nuts, I parked the F250 diesel right behind the house with full tanks and put the power inverter on the seat in case I lose power. I also put an extension cord there so I could jump the furnace if I have to.

I also put a frying pan down there with a butter knife. And he wouldn’t know what that’s for? If the house comes down around me, you can use the handle of the knife to bang on the pan like a drum, so people could come dig you out.

The bad part is supposed to last till after 3 AM.

It was a dark and stormy night…

And just like that, it fizzled down, and passed by us to the north. Still a little lightning and thunder, but just a heavy rain storm.

It got to 90 and was sunny. All the drunk spring breakers have been causing accidents left and right so we have been driving as little as possible.

Sreing break lasts basically all of march for us since so many parts of texas and the surrounding states come to port aransas, padre island, and the national seashore
