i got a sweet deal on a 6" lift kit for $80.00! its on an 85 ranger 4x4 with the 2.8l. ive got a 1990 ranger 2wd and a 1994 ranger 2wd. i wanted to know if the kit for the 4x4 would fit the 94 being that its 2wd? it has extended coils, radius arms, pitman arm, all bracketry and axle blocks. my 1994 is an extended cab with the 2 piece joint. if i put this on will i need to modify my driveshaft and will the front caster be corretable with this much lift?

It will work.... IF you swap the engine crossmember for a 4x4 one.

And I don't know if 2wd beams are the same length as 4wd beams. So you might have to swap them as well even though you aren't adding 4wd. At least that's the impression I get from your post.

swap engine cross to 4x4 and beams to 4x4, or get the drop brackets for a 2wd

You could give it to me:)?

ill trade you my brother

2wd don't matter, you're replacing them with all the 4x4 gear. Radius arm x-member is in the same place on 2wd and 4x4 trucks. The pivot points for the axle beams are just in different spots, thus why you need the 4x4 crossmember.

2wd drop brackets will NOT work with a real front axle. That's why the need to swap crossmembers. On a Bronco II, they used the same frame and crossmember, plus a dummy t-case. So on them all you had to do was swap out the pivot for the passenger side beam, replace the 2wd beams with 4x4 ones, drop the dummy case and put a real t-case on, then add a front d-shaft.

Rangers used different frames so you have to swap the engine crossmember to bolt on the brackets for the 4x4 axle.

thanks for the great info guys. im a little dissapointed it wont be an easy install, not that im not completely capable of doing all the relocating, but since it is going to be my DD ill probably clean up all the brackets and hardware and put it up for sale to either fund a 2" lift for my 2wd or for 15" wheels and new tires. so look on ebay for it in about a month or so? its hard to say when ill have my shit together, im asshole deep in projects over here........custom chopper half done, ranger build, 16' fiberglass boat that needs new floor and trailer refurbuish, john deere 140 in need of restore/ engine rebuild........you get the point. but at the top of the list is getting my floor jack back in action and getting this truck done. thanks for taking the time to inform me.
