To Flush Or Not To Flush

I recently bought a 2000 Ford Ranger (4wd, Supercab, 3.0l) with 73,000 miles.

I'd be interested in opinions related to if I should have my automatic transmission flushed, or to just have the fluid and filter changed.

I'd flush it. We rarely drop a pan and filter at my dealership anymore unless a customer wants us to inspect for excessive metal in the pan. You only change roughly 1/2 of the fluid that way. If it's working fine, I'd flush it.

Flush. Majority of transmission failure is due to bad maintenance and overheating.

It's gonna run you more money, but I seriously recommend it. A new filter and oil will do wonders, especially long-term.

if its yellow, let it mellow
if its brown, flush it down.... oh wait- wrong thing...

personally, i wouldn't flush it..
i'd just change the filter and fluid.
