To fan clutch non beleivers

I don't trust the factory gauge's. I switched to mechanical gauge's and never looked back. On my 86, the oil pressure went to zero out in the middle of the California desert and it was the gauge. I have a old Nissan sentra that I had to replace the head gasket twice due to the thermostat switch going out. My 87 is a 4 x 4 with no factory ac. I also have the bigger radiator from a truck with and extended cab and ac and and 185 temp thermostat and stock fan. The only good way to understand your truck is to install mechanical gauge's

When I get my 88 B2 repair list completed eventually, I will install mechanical gauges as well...the dash gauges tell me absolutely nothing of use until its way too late.

X2 on the mechanical gauges. Dying to sneak a KOSO Digital water temp gauge in to the wife's Jeep. Small and unobtrusive. She doesn't want me to crap it up with tons of gauges and stuff.

I've seen more then a few posts about low speed and idle overheating. Thought I was helping by saying what I said. If people want to spend hours and hours in the heat trying to figure out what and why, but as I said. at least put the FC on the "list" of things to check.

Personally I love the sound of the fan when I start out cold. reminds me of an army jeep! It soon gets quiet unless it's really hot like it has been the last couple of weeks.

If you are rock crawling or driving slow. I would use electric fans. I am thinking about adding a pusher fan as well as the stock one. I live in Northern Nevada and I am setting my truck up to go to mining and ghost towns. Lots of miles of dirt roads.

The only time my temp gauge budged was when the head gasket blew.. I also found the original radiator was replaced with a cheap one. After trying to flush it twice to keep the 50-50 coolant hold its green color instead of sludge brown, I ended up replacing it with a new one. Using only the dummy dash gauge I noticed a difference in the steady running temp. Best 95 bucks I spent..
