Will the external slave TK4 work with the 4.0 clutch, peasure plate and flywheel?

The slave is transmission specific... but if your putting a TK4 on a 4.0L from a 2.8L I'm guessing? your gonna have to use the 2.8L flywheel/clutch/pressure plate from it too as well as the starter.

Yup! I have a TK4 to go behind a 4.0. I need the short oal of the TK4. So all TK4 stuff. The clutch would need to be upgraded from stock.

Any recomendations on the best/most durable clutch maker for this?

Will the starter fit with out mods?

Thank you for the reply.:icon_thumby:

I don't know about the clutch as mines always held up and its... whatever it is.

You are going to need the starter that came from the 2.8L with the tk4 as it will be the one to match up to the teeth of the flywheel.

Check with Allan D.
I remember him posting something about the older style Ford starter won't fit on a 4.0L due to it being physically to thick and hits the oil pan.
If this is the case a 4.0L of an automatic transmission will solve this.

I was looking for a heavy duty clutch and found out that the 2.8 and 2.9 use the same clutch and cover/preasure plate. Is the TK4 bell the problem that won;t let you run the 4.0 stuff or is a problem with range of the throw out bearing.

Saw over in the tech area where folks use the 4.0 stuff on the 2.9 and was just going o use the 4.0 starter, flywheel, clutch, and cover plate with the TK4 through out bearing, slave and pilot bearing. Decide to check with folks first.
