was wondering what a good tire would be for snow thats cheap and the biggest size i can get on my stock 92 ranger 4wd stock aluminum rims

coopers are awesome if you can afford them:icon_thumby:

my favorite road tires.

Cooper Wintercat SST. Best truck snow tire I've used yet.

I'm running the highly rated General Altimax Arctic snow tires studded. When I bought them this summer they had a $60 rebate for buying 4 General tires. Here is some reviews http://www.consumersearch.com/snow-tires/general-altimax-arctic

I have a set of Altimax Arctic's on my Grand Marquis. They make that car a tank in the snow. I need to put forth a good amount of effort to fishtail it. They are awesome. And well priced...i think I paid $400-425-ish for 4 tires and mount/balance two years ago.

discoverer sts are stud acceptable but i dont think the atr are and yes wisconsin can run studs but im not looking for a snow tire i want a tire for all season thus just looking for a tire thats good in winter but will also be gud for all season thanks for all the winter tire info but its not excactly wat im looking for

General Grabber AT2... they are solid All-Terrain tires. Cheap ($100-120ish ea. for 28-30 inch tires), stud-acceptable (if you get the urge), and work well in the snow. My dad had some on his Xterra, it went well in the snow in 2 or 4WD. I was going to get some for my Ranger, but found my Hercules AW wheel/tire set for super cheap.

Tires made by Tread Wright tires that strvger has linked to look hella awesome. And you can't beat the price. I am for sure getting a set of those for my Ranger and any 4x4 I have.

and you can get them with the crushed walnut shells and glass molded into the tread for better traction on ice. that's what i have and they are not quite as good as studs, but neither studs nor chains are allowed on the roads in this state. never been stuck or slid off the road with them in 4 winters. as long as they keep making them, i'll keep buying them.

For 475 you will have a hard time beating the ATR's. They are a solid year round tire and we put them on everything from company work trucks to peoples personal trucks. We even run them on our road service van.

I wasn't too impressed with winter performance from a set of BFG AT T/A KO on my 1996 Mazda RWD truck. Snow was decent. Ice was poor to fair.
