My '89 bronco 2 has an A4LD (193000 mi) and I'm not sure how much longer it will last. My first issue is that it clunks in and out of gear from park, and sometimes acceleration from a stop. Second, it makes a whirring or clicking sound when I'm accelerating in first gear. This especially happens if going uphill or under extra load. Third, my rpm's in 4th gear seem high. At 55 I do around 22-2300, and at 60 right on 2500. At 65 on the highway its doin about 27-2800! Maybe I'm expecting too much from a small engine with an auto tranny but that seems pretty low. I also get aroun 16 or 17 mpg. I think the old girl's startin to slip a little... what's your opinion?
