somewhere on the site i saw that dana 35 max tire size is 35s. would 36s really make that big of a difference? and what happens when you go over 35s. what all breaks?

What breaks can just be about anything. The ring and pinion could crack or break a tooth. Twist the axle or strip the spindles. Breaks off the u-joints (most come). 35's on a Dana 35 is really pushing luck. It would be safer with 31's or 33's. For 35's, you may want to consider a Soild Axle Swap.

I ran 35s on my D35 for almost 2 years, only broke 1 u-joint and 2 hubs. Keep it open(no locker) and you'll be fine. Its all how you wheel it too.

sounds like i am going to rock some 33s bc i am getting a locker for it. man i really wanted to rock some 36s

The most likely thing to blow, after upgrading to tacked/full circle clipped 760 joints is the hubs. Use the 'Jeep' hubs HERE and drive with a light right foot and you should be able to make it survive light wheelin with 36's.

Mine has survived for 2 years on 35's and 2 more years now on 36" TSL SX's (heavy mofo tire)

I'm not easy on it by anymeans. Zero breakages thus far. No hubs, shafts, ujoints, nada.

I'm running 5-760X spicer u joints with the full circlip mod, standard Warn hubs (not the upgraded jeep hubs) and 4.56 gears.

There have been a few that have run 37's and 38's with very minimal breakages. One of those guys being Thumper113 (had 38's with a detroit locker in the front and rear) with only a few breakages.

actually i already have those hubs. i got them last year. i guess i just need to do the u joint upgrade so i will probably do the c clip elmin thing when i go to redo the front end.

i guess i should list my front end specs i am going to have. 4.56 with detroit locker. yukon gears jeep hubs. and from the sound of it i need to do this u joint upgrade that i know nothing about lol so to the tech library!
