Hi , Iam new to the forum and to the Ranger world .
I have a 1997 Ranger 4.0 L with automatic transmicion (a5lde-nr /5r44/550.
i like to lift the rig and put some off road wheels on it . Maybe 4 to 6 inch lift .
What tire size do you recommend me for the Ranger ?Is for street and off road use .
Thanks.

33x12.50-15 would be good. A 4" lift is enough, on a '97 Skyjacker is generally agreed to be the best lift. It will run better if you do a gear swap to 4.56's. Your truck most likely has 3.73's which are too tall for a 33" tire. If it has 4.10's you could live with it but 4.56's would still be better.

15x8 wheels with 3.75" backspace are best.

Yep. You could even run 31's with a 4" lift if you are trying to keep costs down. Lots of guys run that set up and it looks just fine.

only thing id say is run 33x10.50 if you dont want em to stick out too bad. :icon_thumby:

I love the look of my truck with 245/75/16s (same as a 31x10.5). :headbang:

But for more of an "off road" look, 33s would be fine. You will suffer gas mileage and on road handling though.

I just put 33x12.5/15s on and they rule! i do notice the tall gearing now, but its not horrible if you want to do it step by step, since most people dont have the dough to do it all at once, dont forget that Duff has a 6" kit now for about the same price as the skyjacker. It's in their new products section for the BII/ranger. Im getting away with them with 3" spacers up front and some fender trimming, I do not recommend doing that, i will have to fix my fenders now. My avatar shows the tires, im gonna post some more pics of the truck in a little bit

Ok , thanks for all the replies . Maybe I buy 32's or 33's .I will post pics later .I have to made some rapairs to the truck .
Thanks

What are the size of your wheels ?

I got 31s on my 96 2wd stock and it runs good except for 5th gear lol

I run 31x10.5x15's on my stock 97 ranger 4x4 just trimmed the inner fender plastic, you can run 32's if you get wheels with the correct offset and do fender trimming without a lift too, 33's and a lift would be great too especially if ya gear it
