Hi Folks,

I have a stock 99 Ford Ranger, regular cab, long box, 2WD, 3.0L automatic. I am still running the original all season tires, 15" I believe, and they are getting a little low on tread. Well, 'tis the season for snow flurries in the GTA but fortunately we don't get a lot of snow, none at all at the moment. So I want to replace the tires with another set of all seasons since I think true snow tires would be overkill. Can anybody recommend a good set of all season tires with decent snow performance but still a comfortable/quiet ride in the summer?

Well I would check out tire rack They have a lot of personal recomendations. You could probably just go down to your local tirestore and get a cheep OEM replacement type tire for 65-80/each. I have BFG AT and they are awsome, but more agressive than you probably want. Plus a stock type tire will get more mileage if you rotate them and keep them at the right PSI and what not.

like 97ranger4x4 said, the bfg at's are awesome but if you dont want that aggresive of a tire but still want something that is good in the snow the goodyear fortera triple treads (fortera silent armors and wrangler silent armors are awesome too) would be perfect, the pirelli scorpion atr's are another great all terrain that are less aggressive than the bfg's other than that i dont have much experience in the snow with other tires.

bfgs arent that agressive, and they last forever
i cant wait to switch mine in, there on my nice wheeles in the shed at the moment
but i hear all good things about them

Yeh i got 50k on my last sat of BFG, but for snow they are an AWSOME tire. They are pretty quiet and because they are 31x1050 they handle awsome over stock tires. My roommate has a ranger almost identicle to mine so I could tell the difference between stock size and my larger tires. I would recommend the BFG to anyone using snow.

My Top Recommended tires are as listed.

Firestone Destation LE or AT
Firestone Indy 500
BFGoodrich Radial LongTrail T/A
Michelin LTX M/S
Michelin CrossTerrain
Uniroyal Laredo CrossCountry
Uniroyal TigerPaw Laredo

I personally love my Michelin LTX M/S. Best overall value. It maybe higher priced, but will last the longest. LongTrail T/A is also a great tire. Better value for the off-road type. Indy 500 is more for the street but it is rated M/S. Destation LE is the best selling tire and best priced, thou they do not last as long, soft rubber compound.
