Tire Pressures?

I have the 31x10.50 BGFs on my new alcoas, what tire pressures do ya'll recommend?. I usually run 32-34 psi up front bc of engine weight and 28 psi in the back unless hauling something. What tire pressures do ya'll recommend? it just seems that with 32 psi up front, there seems to be a bigger bulge then im accustomed to where the tire and asphault meet. any suggestions would be great.
 
now i used to have 16s with 255/70R16s on them. i just traded for 15" alcoas with the 31x10.50s, so should i still follow the placard on the inside of the door?
 
whats the max for the TIRES?

with the 31x10.5's on my explorer sport, i ran 45 front, 40 rear (they were "50 psi cold max" tires). tread wear was even, so i didn't need to adjust from there.

higher pressure equals better handling and better mpg. you just have to find the balance that doesn't cause accelerated wear. and don't go over what the TIRE states.
 
i dont get why people always say go by the door tag? (not to be directed at sobriety?, i just see this answer alot!) if someone puts different size tires on the truck than it was originally equipped with then that sticker means nothing, its all dependent on the tire manufacturers specs for that tire (if i mount agricultural tires on my ranger i should still fill them to 32psi? NO). i say between 45 and 35, youll be the best judge of what works best for your set up, but you should be close if you start around there.

Well I walked down the three flights of stairs to be sure, but my 04 level II says 30psi on the door.

If you actually read the small print on the sidewalls of the tires, it will state to follow the manufacturer recommended pressures.

I went from 235/75r15's to 36x12.50r15's and still run factory pressures.

Putting 45-80 lbs of air in a light truck tire on a Ranger is assinine. If you are going to throw 4000 lbs of payload in the bed fill up the tires but for a Ranger you should fill them to 30-32 psi.
If you replace the tires with a different size then the the factory sticker means nothing??????????? :bsflag:

Am I missing something? Where did he say 45-80 lbs? The only outrageous figure I see is "4000 lbs of payload in the bed". I'll assume that was an exaggeration.....

I'm not talking about the tire manufacturer, i'm talking about the vehicle manufacturer specs. So follow the door sticker.
 
Come on guys- use your head and listen to what ForOffRoadDriving said. If you stay close to OEM sizes, you can start at what the door panel says, then adjust up or down from there to get a good comprimize between handling/wear/gas mileage for your own vehicle and driving style. I have a 99 3.0L XLT short bed, running 235/75R15 and use 32F, 28R. That works for me. Another thing to consider is load range (plys) and sidewall stiffness. Load range D tires have more plies, stiffer sidewalls and tread, and are usually run at higher pressures. Blindly following the door sticker is what happened to all those people with fully loaded Explorers, running 75 mph, hot summer weather, at 25 psi. No wonder the tires overheated and blew. A good starting point might be to ask the shop that sold or mounted your tires.
