i have bfg at ko's

so if the blocks one in from the outside of the tire are slightly higher on the outer edge of that block, then the edge of the tire blocks, am i under pressure or over? i noticed i was up to 42 psi on the highway so i lowered them to 40. usually i run them at 38 and havent noticed any problems until now. also seam to notice some vibration in the truck, but not the steering wheel.

235 75 15 with maybe 12,000 kms on them. its not bad. and you can see it unless your looking, but im ****ing anal about my truck. :icon_twisted::D:icon_bounceblue:

If I understand what your saying right, then it sounds like they have been over inflated.

basically the lugs on the outer edge are worn lower then the outer edge of the lugs one in from the sidewall. would that not mean under?

You sure it's tread depth and not the tires having a curve to the tread? My dad's BFG's always looked a little round - both sets of 31's and on my Wranger, both sets of 31's BFG's that I went through were curved.

Don't worry, I got rid of the Jeep way back in highschool.

if its happening on just the outside and not the inside edge also i would say to much positive camber.

If I understand it he is talking about the outer lugs as in the ones on the side wall have a higher outer edge then inner edge. and the answer is that the tire is curved and the outer edge of the tire will almost always have more tread then the center sections. I have had many people try and pull the oh these tires have 50% left and they measure for the outside and the center is showing cords...

But I usually run my tires at 35 all around. Never had any problems with them.

thanks :icon_thumby::icon_cheers:

To start with, the BFG All-Terrain KO's have sidewall edge tread. So its kinda of hard to understand exactly what you are trying to say. But from what I could understand, it sounds like you are running the tire psi too high. Ideally, 32-35 psi should be good for those tires on the Ranger.

FYI, cupping of a tire is where the tread is unevenly wearing in the center and causes dips in tread depth. Usually a sign of bad shocks.

Bad balljoints will cause cupping on IFS.

cupping

Worn shocks can also cause cupping, as the worn shocks cause the tires to "bounce" rapidly at highway speeds. This will also cause a "shimmy" of sorts which may or may not be felt in the steering wheel depending on the severity.
