Not my 1st clutch R+R , just my 1st Ranger clutch. The clutch is grabbing at the very top and slipping under any quick throttle moves. Are there any special things to look at with slave cyl and throw out bearings when I R+R stuff? Or stuff like seals or bushings I should replace whilst trans is out., Judging from slippage I figure the flywheel will need a re surfacing. RMS whilst I'm there. A link to a model specific "how to" would be great . TIA

Just replace it all. If it lives in the bell housing, get a new one. Those slaves don't like to be reused.

Thank you sir, Are you including the flywheel in that condemnation? Just a 600 $ beater I use around town for stuff that wont fit in my 528e. It is a 30 footer for fit and finish. It has been used hard . Every panel has a blemish.

The flywheel would at least need machined. If it was my truck and it was that old I'd compare the price of a new one vs getting it machined. If they are close I'd just replace it for the sake of expediency.

A quality new flywheel usually runs around $60 in the aftermarket. I think I usually spend $35 to $40 and loose a day and a half to two days to machining (my guy is slow).

A lot of guys around here will buy a flywheel, hang on to the other one, and then get that one cut the next time they are getting ready to do the clutch. Seems a little excessive to me for something that has to be done once every 10 years at most.

I've never actually had a flywheel replaced or machined when doing the clutch, and never had any problems from it either, but the best way is probably just to replace it. They aren't that expensive.
