Timing

Hook it up to one of the nipples on the vacuum tre by the dizzy. I use a long vacuum hose and set it on my seat in the cab to watch it as I`m driving down the road. try turning your carb idle screws out for the highest vacuum then back in till it starts to drop then retard the timing the where you get 16 hg in mercury on the vacuum guage then check the idle screws for max vacuum. Get them both to balance at 16 hg and see how it runs. Being 27 yrs old I think 16 is the best I will get but she still is a rapper. Not so much on the upper end for power but still hauls a load of compost just fine when sitting on the axle.

Ok so i let my truck warm up. Turned it off and reset the screws, 3 turns out from lightly seated. I hooked up the vacuum gauge and it is sitting at about 17 hg i think is the increments.

Well what ever i did to it it seems to have helped. I no longer have that cutting out and it goes down the street with no problems. Now to get a new muffler.

While it is running turn the idle screws out for the highest vacuum reading or turn them in till it starts to drop then back out a little . find the highest lean position on both of them then retard the timing until you get 16 hg on the vacuum guage and try that. Let me know where the timing is by using the vacuum guage to time it. If your getting 17 in vacuum then you probably have all the leaks fixed does the vacuum guage hold steady within 1/2 of hg. 1/2 is real good 1 is acceptable .
