My buddy and I pulled the motor out of my truck to replace the clutch thinking it would be easier than dropping the drivetrain.Put it back together, and couldn't get it fired up,got tired of f-ing with it and had it hauled to a local shop, they got it running but like crap.It died on the way home but fired right back up,noticed the plug wires were not in their proper order and put them in the right order and couldn't get it fired back up.I turned the dist 180 from what they had it and tried starting it,the timing was still off, messed with it and still nothing.I rotated the wires counter clockwise and it fired but ran real rough, wouldn't go higher than 2 grand. What would be causing this, the truck ran great before we pulled the motor.Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks,

travis

First of all, get your wires in the right spot.

If it still wont run, get it at TDC and make sure your rotor is in the right spot. Just before the number one wire.

After that, check all your plugs and wires, fuel pressure etc.

Thanks, now what would cause fuel to keep coming out of the schrader valve on the fuel rail, maybe just a bad valve?

Purhaps a bad valve... but 1st, what is the fuel pressure at that valve? should be between 30-40psi....if it is higher, which I suspect....then the fuel pressure regulator(FPR) is shot and needs replaced. Which could account for the poor runability too, or maybe some of it.

Like BlackBII mentioned to make sure plug wires are on in the correct sequence.

then make sure the timing is set correctly...10deg btdc ... with the spout plug removed.

does the spout plug have two yellow wires?

Yes ....on mine they (the 2 yellow wires), went to a White plastic housing...(a bit bigger than a Carmel cube), that has a black insert with some what of a small T handle...the black T handle is the spout and can be removed prior to checking the timing
