i got a 1988 ford ranger 2.3 liter, 5 speed. The timing belt recently stipped a couple teeth off, leaving the truck stranded at a dairy queen lol. I put the new timing belt on after much frustration with the crankshaft pulley. And now I cant get it to crank, it turns over jus fine but no fire. I checked the timing marks on the crank, the key is at 12 oclock and the timing mark on the pulley is on tdc on the cover. I even checked the number 1 piston to make sure it was tdc on the compression stroke and it is. Then i took the the dist cap off to see if it was pointing to the number 1 plug wire and it was.
But the thing is before I pulled the dist cap i checked the order of the wires and they were not correct according to the haynes manual. So i wired them up in the correct order so now the rotor points to the number one plug, before it didnt. How this thing ran before is beyond me.
But its not doin nothin at all, its gettin gas, and spark but not cranking. Any ideas?
