well i have all the bolts out of the timing case and remove the alternator radiator fan power steering pump water pump and the 3 bolts from the bottom of the oil pan the case is loose enough for me to wiggle it forward and side to side but it wont come out???:icon_confused: i was looking at the bottom of the case and saw that there somthing that goes around the crank shaft idk if it is a seal or somthing but i think that is what is holding me up anyone have any in put on this?

Did you remove the crank pulley/Vibration damper?

Did you already buy the chain kit?

i bought just the chain and i have not removed the harmonic balance. but even when i do how will it come off? does part of the crank shaft bolt on to the gear?

If you don't have the damper off pack it in.

The damper is on the crank, seal journal for the front main-seal is on the damper
The seal is a round lipseal that is mounted in the timing cover.

the damper should have been taken off before you started on the
timing cover bolts.

You need to remove the big center bolt and use a puller to get the damper off.

The lower timing gear is clamped between a shoulder on the crank and the damper.

Also keep in mind to press against the center of the bolt (leave it in the crank) and not the actual crankshaft when pulling the balancer. Balancer can be a PITA.

Yep, leave the bolt in but backed off 1/2" or so.

this might involve removing the puller and backing the bolt out more, but...

I ALWAYS forget that detail, because I have the Rotunda/OTC tool
specifically for the Cologne V6 Vibration dampers.
