Hi all, I'm going to be replacing my water pump and timing chain tomorrow. now from what I been reading my question is do I need take the oil pan off? or can I just slide the timing cover off? but if I have to take the oil pan off what's is the best way to lift the engine without a engine hoist I only would have to raise it about 2 inches per the book

thanks for the help

truck is 2002 edge 3.0 2x4

You shouldn't need to remove the oil pan. Maybe the front few bolts if they go into the timing cover, but not the whole pan.

And there is no good way to lift an engine without a proper engine hoist.

cool that's what I was thinking but I figure I would ask worst case is I rent a support beam lift it. thanks for the help

Don't forget front main seal :)
