On to the next issue.
After replacing the timing chain and sprockets on my 2001 3.0 there is still slack in the chain. Is there a tensioner or something I'm not seeing? Cam and crankshaft bearings are all good

No, the 3.0l Vulcan didn't use a tensioner, a little slack is normal

I think spec was 6deg of crank rotation before cam gear starts to turn, which isn't much rotation but yours looks fine
If there are 24 teeth on crank gear thats 15deg between teeth so about 1/2 tooth rotation

Ok, I didn't expect it to be tight but it just felt like a lot of slack so I wanted to be sure
