Timing Belt Parts Confusion

I bought GATES Part # TCK014P. It contains:
1 Timing Belt
1 Tensioner
2 SKF 17107

17107 Is: a camshaft seal, an Auxiliary Shaft Seal, and a Timing Cover Seal.

Question 1: Whats a Timing Cover Seal?

Question 2: If these three items are all in fact different items, which 2 should I replace. Any special warnings about timing belt and seals replacment on a 90 2.3?

The front of the motor has three seals..

Crankshaft, auxiliary, and cam tower. They are all the same part number. Behind the serpentine pulley on the crank is the main timing sprocket and behind that the front cover and main crank seal. This seal is the same as the auxiliary shaft seal, and cam tower seal...it looks like they gave you 2 of the three seals. I doubt they recommend you change the cranksprocket/cover seal....as general rule

Are you sure you want to change all of these?...if you have to ask..it may be more than u bargained for unless you are really adventurous..that crank sprocket can be stuck on there pretty good.. If they're not visibly leaking..I'd prolly put a belt on..and stick the seals on the shelf for a later project myself...good luck...

FYI Rotunda tool makes a special crank sprocket remover/installer tool....they are very PROUD OF IT.

It there a difference between the front main and the timing cover seal?

The reason that I ask is because the front main lists a completely different part number with seamingly different measurements.

All I have to do is pop off the pulleys and r&r the seals correct?

If there are the shafts, why would the timing belt kit only come with 2 seals. That doesn't really seem to make sense.

I've done plenty of timing belts and cam/crank seals, but all of my wrench turning experience comes from German and Japanese cars. This truck is my first domestic vehicle, and while its all basically the same, tiny things are VERY different.

When I did the rear main, I quickly learned that on domestic engines, you can not take of granted the fact that the oil level in the pan is lower than the seal. Thats how I learned what Rotella tastes like.

maybe i should back up a ittle..

I ordered today from Ford new seals for the front of my 88 block. The parts guy on the phone said that all three were the same...I haven't yet removed the front cover seal on that block...(i have decided to order that expensive gear removing tool since I have four other older blocks to dissasemble..and i don't want to tear up the front covers) perhaps i should stand down and let someone who is working on a 89 or newer block step forward.. although that part you would think it may be the same even though the crank is a small journal instead of a larger journal pre-89...I may be mistaken is your case..I wouldn't want to steer you wrong

the front of a '90 isn't any different other than the bolt pattern of the front crank seal housing.

my front seal is leaking and the crank sprocket is really stuck since the crank key broke over a year ago... I might have to get a two jaw puller and butcher the jaws, or make something.
