ticking sound from rear end,'88 ranger

my '88 ranger 4x4 recently started do develope a tick from the rear end when i start moving,if i let the clutch out slow it wont do it and once its moving it dosnt do it either,i recently had the rear end gears etc replaced,i was kind of thinking maybe a U-joint? or theres a bearing that the drive shaft goes thru about mid way up the truck and if i wiggle the drive shaft it does have some play in it.

also i was wondering how i could tighten my E-brake

Put the tranny in neutral and if you feel slop in the U joints or carrier bering they need to be replaced. I like to replace both U joints at the same time while it is apart. I was at the part store a couple weeks ago and a guy was asking about the same noise. I got under it and showeed what was wrong the carrier wiggled about 1/2 an inch and the rear U joint had about 1/16. He said he would change it as soon as he got back from Portland about 400 miles round trip. I wonder if he made it. Be sure and check both output on the tranny/transfer and pinion bearings for slop and end play hopefully it is just the carrier and U joints easy enough to replace. start with the obvious.
