So i was parked in my driveway and had it in reverse, put the clutch in, rolled down into the road and engaged about halfway til i realized i was still in reverse. So i quickly put it into 1st and started driving and then noticed a little ticking noise. So i pulled back in the driveway and listened. It ticks steadily and ticks faster when i rev up the engine. Does this sound like i partially busted my flywheel?? Gears still engage normally and everything drives normally, no slipping. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, goin to hate it if i have to drop the tranny for the 3rd time in less than 10 months. lol

Flywheels normally don't "Bust." You can take teeth off the ring gear with the starter, but I doubt you damaged the flywheel. I know there's a lot of other guys on here that definately abuse their rigs more then that :D

Are you sure its not coming from the exhaust? There's a junction close to the transmission. When my gasket dies coming off my header, I get a ticking that almost sounds like a horrible lifter tick. You may want to spend some time listening around to see where its coming from. Still could be transmission related. possibly throw out bearing....

Does the noise change at all with the clutch depressed etc?

Well I haven't had much time to examine it because i been workin so much. But i listened from the engine bay and it sounds like it's on the left side (looking into engine bay) towards the backside of the engine. I'm not saying that one instance caused flywheel issues, it could have just been the last straw. And I'm not sure that it's the flywheel, hoping not. haha. But I had the flywheel go out in my Tahoe a few years ago and it made a similar noise to this one except a lot louder. Also, no change with clutch in or out. Being that the sound seems to be coming from the passenger side rear of the engine it could be something with the exhaust but i kind of doubt it, it doesn't really sound like an exhaust noise to me.
