Thunderbolt weak

Just bought a 02 Thunderbolt with 4.0 SOHC auto. Supposed to be 240 horse. I think my 92 4.0 manual trans that was supposed to be 140 horse would have walked all over this thing. Code P0401 , will this affect the performance much?

first of all, welcome to TRS!
i have read about the thunderbolt and i assume yours is the normal version, cus they had some diferent packages or stages people could choose. but even with an auto it should be faster and stronger than the 92, maybe in need of some tuneup?

Your p0401 is low egr flow. It could cause drivability issues. Look up in the tech section and you should find a lot of information about this code. I know that there is or was a extended warranty by Ford for the egr I think it was the DPFE. On my 02 there was an extended warranty on the EGR tube but it shoud be expred by now.

A P0401 is typically a DPFE sensor code it will hurt your fuel mileage some. Easy to replace but the part is not easy on the wallet I put one on mine and it was bout a hundred but not sure how much they are now. By the way welcome to TRS!!!!

Replaced dpfe. Runs much better now. $50 aftermarket at NAPA.
