throttle seems like it sticks

I dont know if this has been said before, but you listed the problem in your original post. (I could be wrong as I dont have time to read the second page Im on a mission LOL.) But your used to driving f150's that have Iron blocks or v-8's. This ranger being new to you your just not used to the fact that ranger rev down a little bit slower than the bigger trucks. Due to many factors. Weight of the rotating assembly, cam profiles etc. I would give it some time and get used to driving it compared to the bigger rigs and then start looking for problems. Otherwise in the next coouple weeks youll be fixing quite a few things that dont 'feel' right.

I'll come back and read to the end in a little bit.

My 96 Ranger 2.3L manual does the same thing. But it does not rev up when pushing in the clutch. Instead it holds the RPMs slightly and then slowly drops to 1,000, holds there till I come to a complete stop. If yours does this too, its normal.

As suggested, check throttle cable and throttle body for carbon. Also check the throttle return spring on the throttle body. And if anything, you can do the throttle zip tie mod.

yeah it seems like it holds the rpms but isnt that hard on the tranny cause its basically like poppin the clutch

Not really. It just helps to keep the rpms in sync when shifting. Popping the clutch is when you just let it drop in. I always let the clutch out slowly enough to sync the tranny and engine. And once engaged, apply throttle and fully release the clutch.

One thing you may want to try. Drive up to speed (like 40~45mph) and then press & hold the clutch in. RPMs should hold for about a sec or two before dropping. Unless you have the A/C on too, then it may surge a little before dropping.
