Is there any way to test this? I am having issues with a miss at idle and low rpm's. I have already replaced plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor, what would be next guess?

ur gonna wanna clean out the throttle body on that engine throughuly, and pull the idle air control valve and clean that as well, then seafoam it and time the motor afterwords, 2.9s run funny when they get carboned up lol

and adressing ur itming which might be off a degree or two

I've already done all that, I am asking if there is a way to test the tps.

Yes, you can test resistance through the rotation of the TPS. Connect the leads of an Ohmmmeter to two of the wire connections (center and one side, I think). Resistance should increase steadily as you rotate the input slowly. If resistance jumps at any time, is irregular, open (infinite reading) or if the TPS has no resistance, then you should replace it.

The TPS is only a variable resistor input that the ECU uses for input.

From the name, I assume you are in Idaho. Where?

srteach, thanks for the info. I am in Kellogg.

I did all that too and still had probs,a friend who does mobile diagnostics told me to clean the throttle blade(the backside). I told him I did use almost a whole can of intake cleaner and he said use a rag and cleaner to get to the back of the bade and I was amazed by the amount of black crap stuck back there. This guy knows his stuff,he has been doing that since right after we got out of school (86'). Hope ya get it figured out:)

i usually pull the throttle body when i do mine, take everything off and just drop it in the parts washer lol u can get much further into the intake with the throttlebody off

Well, not sure what the problem was, but it seems to have gone away for now. I put a bottle of Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas, and it slowly started to run better until it was fine.

It seems my truck does something like that also.....one day it runs great and the next maybe not so great. I wonder if some of this is caused by getting some bad gas.

Mine is running fine now, it just smokes now that I have it up and running again.
