Despite having passed emissions a few months ago, today I got a check engine light. I put on the scanner and pulled:

53 - Throttle Position Sensor voltage too high (wide open)
93 - Throttle Position Sensor voltage too low
41 - Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor always lean

Hoping someone knows if a bad O2 sensor is the likely cause and if th O2 could be causing false TPS codes.

Also I have been noticing a significant drop in gas mileage of a 5+ MPG decrease.

o2

Can you see what the O2 sensor is doing on your scanner? Switching or not?

If it's an old sensor might as well change it out if wiring looks good. They do get worn out after some time and response slows considerably.

I would think the TPS is a separate issue but you may also try and reset codes and see if they return first.

The truck drives fine other than reduced gas mileage?

My scanner can only pull codes and the truck runs perfect. Thats why I suspect the TPS codes are a symptom of something else like the O2 sensor. Think I will start by replacing that and see where it goes from there.
