Just a curiosity question really, ain't quite ready to drive down the road but its really really close :headbang:. My truck is a 2001 Ford Ranger 2wd reg cab and had a 2.5L and 5 speed as original equipment. I finally made my mounts and got the engine (carbed 302) situated down inside the engine compartment and bolted to the trans. I was just curious as to if anyone makes a throttle cable to use on a carbureted application. I'm going to try to finish it next weekend and just wanted to see what yall have done with past projects.... another question I got is what brackets work best to mount my alternator and what year/model alt to use so I can retain my stock plug ins for it and retain my factory volt meter? BE AWARE, I'm using the original V-belt set up off the motor to drive my accessories (the alt can be whatever, just a pulley swap there), it was what was on it and the clearance ain't an issue so I decided to leave it be. The oil and temp are taken care of so the only one left is the volt meter on my dash. The tach is going to be the only dead one in the cluster but I got an aftermarket that I can mount elsewhere.... unless someone can get it to work with points ignition lmao, my neighbor told me it's easy... he also has 20 cats and he's about one step away from wearin tin foil on his head cause of aliens lol.... Anyhow, I've got this thing about whipped, I get this little bit figured out and it's go time. Any tips would be much appreciated, thanks yall

UPDATE. I got the alternator situation figured out. I found a 1999 5.0L explorer so I'm yankin the alt and bracket off of it. The plug ins are different but I'm going to swap the front from it to mine so it'll fit the bracket and retain my plug ins. My engine is from a 1968 car... Is there any extra holes ford drilled in the block or heads that'll keep me from using that stuff? The throttle cable is all that's left and I don't want to just "rig" somethin. I still ain't having luck finding one, are there companies that make universal cables that will work?

I would say whatever reaches from the pedal to the carb and can hook to the carb should work.

BTW...........

:worthless:

Yes we do want to see this setup in your truck.:icon_thumby:

I made my own throttle linkage from a piece of small solid rod, threaded on one end, flattened it on the side to drill the hole and used a kotter pin/washer combo when it came thru the pedal arm. I bought the Lokar kickdown linkage for the tranny hookup tho
