I have just bought a throttle body EFI 302 out of a 1987 F-150. I look at the throttle body, and it seems "beefy". Do you think there will be any clearance issues with the tall body?

No, there's more vertical space under the hood than you'd think. The problem V8 swaps all face is the length of the engine bay, not the width or height. I've fit a high rise 3x2 intake, topped with three Holley carbs and the factory 3x2 aircleaner assembly under the hood of my 89 with a 3" tall K&N element. This aircleaner has a slightly raised bottom, instead of a dropped base. There are some who've used the Ford truck EFI upper/lower in a Ranger without problems.

I am in the process of swapping my 302 to fuel injected. I have an intake upper and lower off of an 86 F-150. The way my engine is sitting in my pickup the upperintake is too tall by about 2" to clear the hood. The length is also about 2" too long to sit on top of the intake without hitting firewall and heater box.

If you want to make clearance issues go away, get an upper and lower intake from a mustang or a crown vic. Another option is a GM TBI retrofit. You'll need all the sensors, wiring, fuel system and computer from a late 80's early 90's Chev pickup (look for the 1227747 computer). That sounds like a ton of work, but I bet it's cheaper than buying the Holley Pro Jection kit. Just my $.02 CDN. :3gears:

Would a 3" body lift help out some? I am thinking of going in that direction with the lift anyway.
