i have a 1988 ranger with a 2.9 in it. i have been told to put a 5.0 throttel body on it for more power. is this true and about how much more power will it give it and what would i have to do to get a 5.0 throttel body on it or is it to hard to get it to fit no thanks for any info :icon_confused:

It won't give you more power. A larger TB will add a bit of response, thats it. It would be more trouble than it is worth. If you want to add a bigger one. Find an 86-87 2.9 TB. They are larger and a direct swap.

My 87 has the bigger throttle body and it provides more air than it can use. I have only "floored" it a few times since after about 3/4 throttle it doesn't do anything but waste gas.....the motor doesn't pull any harder.

No problem. Good thing you asked first huh?
