kbb for an very good is 1000$ less then asking price for private party. but it is the very same truck as a ranger. auto 3.0 is a slow dog of a truck.

also the engine clues for mazda are

b-2300 is the 2.3
b-2500 is the 2.5
b 3000 is the 3.0
b-4000 is the 4.0

if you have money in hand do not be afraid to talk people down. i would only talk some one done face 2 face. if you dont know how. pick a number and have that exact amount in a wad set up before transaction and say it is all you have. most times the amount listed in an add is more then what the person wants. so he lands on what he wants. i would use kbb and nada values in negotiating

Thats a nice Ranger, but its over my budget, and almost three hours away from me so its not gonna happen.
I was actually looking up the KBB value right before I noticed your post, and I'm totally with you on talking this guy down a little. The way I filled it out, it came out to $5,237 for very good.

i dont like their wording. who brings up the fact it doesnt smoke, if it truly doesnt. i dont see and mileage either...

go look, if the engine is anything above cold when you get there dont touch it. they are running it to cover any issues on start up. tell them you want to see it when the engine is cold, and come back. Takes a GOOD look under the hood for damages, and for a carproof, and look underneath for any trouble signs. Check under the engine for oil leaks, and the rear main seal is a common thing, and check the back of the drum brakes for any signs of them being wet, which mean it would need seals. Make them fix anything you dont like. Especially if you dont plan on haggling them.

If you were referring to the first truck, the 01' Edge, it doesn't matter. When I went to look at it, it wasn't even on the lot.

I must have some really bad luck. I called the guy that's selling the B3000 and he said to call back tomorrow evening. He was saying that he would know by then if it sold or not,... he was relatively confident it would be.

$4300 is a little high for the 94. See if he would be willing to entertain offers. And it's also got a lift which is starting you off in the right direction. I'd say go take a look at the truck in person and drive it, then make your offer.

As for the Mazda, it is the same truck. All that's different on it is the bedsides, taillights, and front clip.

he must not know craigs list well. if it dont sell it make it even more easy to talk down.

I called the guy with the Mazda back, and the guy that was going to buy it couldn't get a loan, so there is still a chance. He also said that there are a lot of people calling about it. Right now my Dad and I are ready to pay the listed price so long as its as good as the pictures make it seem. I just hope I can get it before someone else!

oh and DONT GET THE 3.SLOW while you still have the choice get the 4.0 (try to get the sohc version)
