Well got my Motorcraft wheel cylinders today(rockauto) was ready to put them babies on till I found out that not one but both where seized, solid, well maybe I can fix'em, so it to 120 psi to blow the pistons out, in inside was just scum and the cylinders pitted, made in all places italy, checked the label they where made in 8-4-2008, six years in the warehouse open plastic bags and loose bleeder valves so there crap $37 worth of crap plus $10 shipping and another $10 to return, Out $20 in shipping to return, its just easier to just toss'em out:thefinger:

I got wheel cylinders at the local store for $12 each and didn't have problems. Probably china made but were at least Bendix brand.

Same problem with a slave cylinder from Rockauto, piston won't move. Haven't tried too hard but it ought to move a little.

Yeah, I will buy a lot of things from Rock, hydraulics are not one of them. I try very hard to purchase all hydraulic parts locally so that I can open the box and inspect the part at the store, in front of the guy who ordered it in for me (Our Napa has like 3 guys who work there and I'll only deal with one of them), and say "yes it's good", or "this is junk, send her back Bird".

And yes, his name really is "Bird".

junk

If some of you read my post a few days ago about trying local O'Reilys and napa they both had junk, napa where seized, O'Reilys, miss machined, Iam sticking with summit free shipping on over $99, and a free return label, no return shipping fees if, bad , damaged or listed wrong on there site, both napa stores have pricks working there, I had a freind pick up a oxygen welding bottle for me at the napa near where he works, when he brougnt it home there was only 350 psi in it, so I call them up and they told me I was trying to cheat them, and used the gas, when I took it back the guy brought out a full one, and mouthed of to me instead of watching what he was doing while loading it in my trunk, hit the top of his head on my really sharp trunk lock and bleed like a stuck pig, I just looked at him, and said that's carma paying you back

Most of my brake parts are from Auto Zone. No quality troubles so far. Any stuff that failed was 'cause I messed up the install.:D

Except you can't buy drum shoes from Advance because they have the wrong part # for the 10" brakes.

Haven't had too many problems with brake stuff from the local Autozone.

Clutch hydraulics, on the other hand, well...

I'm on my third slave cylinder from Autozone in 3 years. Every time the weather gets cold... pop. Nothing but junk. I think it's high time I start searching for a ZF trans for it.

Its been 2 winters and 4k miles on the clutch . IIRC, I got the MC and slave from Parts Geek. The rep set is a LUK. Evrything is new between the crank and the swing arm of the pedal. Clutch action is very smooth. I went into the truck expecting to pay 50 $ for a re-lined clutch disk.I have about 300$ into it.. :D

...my last name is really "Bird" also....

i bought both rear wheel cylinders just a couple of weeks back, think they were 10.50 @ autozone, what i didnt realize at the time i bought them was that i needed the larger line nut for them, started making new rear lines up and went to thread the first one into the wheel cylinder, opps!, now i no longer have any original brake lines on my truck, for that matter, the only original brake componets are the rear backing plates and the master cyl/brake booster.

I ran into that before with the 3/4" bore cylinders for the 9" drums, but if you got the 15/16 bore for a 10" it took a regular 3/16 nut.
