This will blow your doors off!!!!

That is awesome. Im thinking of making my doors removable but i just wonder how much of a pain they are to reinstall. Wiring, door ajar, etc.

by the way i dont know if i metioned i made mine from chevy s10 blazer spare tire cariers. and i even used the latch. i just cut all the tire brackets off, added the 2 cross tubes, the length of it was already perfect i just welded spacers on to the factory pivot hole of the tire carrier. then welded the latch where it needed to go. ad drilled a hole and welded a nut to even use the ruber bumps so they dont rattle. easy and "cheap" way to get perfesional looking doors, i dont think i could have ever bent doors that nice

It amazes me. They are a cool idea but, why do Ranger guys spend so much time trying to make their trucks into Jeep Wranglers? I have seen half doors, tube doors, solid axle swaps, and tail bobbing. All that does is make it closer to a Jeep Wrangler. I would just buy a Wrangler. Then you can have the factory half doors, solid axles if you buy one a few years old, possibly factory selectable lockers (with good axles), and a real rear seat.

a wrangler doesnt suit my needs.

no doors does though.

i would also like a removable windshield too.

in the end i will have a jeep like pickup. with the hummer h3t things are close. jeep has pickups in the line of development for years now that i have seen on the road. none of those is comming in under 30 grand setup for what i need.

then theres the classic.

"it was a jeep thing but all that shit broke"

you can give me a new jeep and i would still have to install my rangers current powertrain into it. because that is what i need.

tube doors just for open air feel and looks is great. i prefer it. its the damn mosquitos that get my doors on in the summer. when i have the netting done all will be well with that though.

tube doors for what i use them for... visibilty when wheelin, need some more thought depending on terrain for trucks that are street driven still, you need to protect the b pillars.

i seen alot of regret on trucks from not doing that...most guys run nothing at all on certain trails. if you get into a b pillar without the doors on you may not be able to use the doors ater that wthout trying to straighten the pillar again.

which can get ugly.

i prefer no doors myself

I don't know about those half doors. Sure they look cool but they scare me.

Few years back a guy was headed back home from being out of town visiting family. It was late and he really should have stopped somewhere and spent the night but didn't, thought he could make it back home fine. Well he was wrong and fell asleep behind the wheel. The 2wd Ranger (mid 90s IIRC) he was driving drifted into the other lane, he woke up, over corrected, and sent the truck rolling. He survived, but... His girlfriend was asleep in the passenger seat a during this leg of the trip, she wasn't wearing a seat belt but the truck didn't have tube doors either. During the rolling of the truck she was thrown halfway out the passenger side window. She left behind a twin sister, mother and father. The family was a friend of ours and it was rough, still every time I see the living sister I have to think to myself which one it is. That happened with full doors on a 2wd truck, I can only imagine what would have happened with half doors, or tubes on a lifted 4wd.

After hitting, kissing, slamming and breaking glass I have found a true love for my doors and fenders.

Do tube doors look cool, YES.
Should people who wheel have paper thin tube doors like the ones pictured in this thread NO.

Go buy a 200 dollar vehicle of your choice, go driving like a mad man around a field, ROLL IT and tell me if you were happy you had doors to at least keep you inside the vehicle during this experience.

Everyone loves the incredibly GAY "hardcore" LOOKS until there melon bounces off the roof of there rig when they roll thanks to those paper thin tube doors that sacrificed the integrity of the vehicles cab.

It amazes me how incredibly stupid people can be all for the sake of looking cool.

the doors are not a significant part of the cab structure on the earlier trucks. the windshield has more use in roll over capacity especially compared to my rusted out skins i have for doors, properly constucted tube doors will add strength to these vehicles though. sheet metel is alot nicer i admit.

i have been in multi rolls at speed..in my truck i still drive, and several other vehicles. usually i was a passenger and asleep...or passed out maybe is a better description.

i hold no illusions about real doors over tubes with safety potentials. i also know people that been ejected from rangers with perfect doors. females at that. fortunatly survived, one is crippled, that happened in 88 iirc.

i have rolled in rangers with no doors or tubes at all several times, sometimes just for fun.

i also drive convertables and motorcycles.

maybe those should be taken off the road too.

gay.....yeah, i feel gay in a convertable....hardcore.

Come on man we all know what being that relaxed (read: drunk) will do for you.

Let me clarify it's the half doors I don't like. I ride a bike I haven't got a problem with not having doors, hell if I go down on my bike chances are I'll be separated from it. The way I ride it's also not likely to roll over on top of me. Would I ride in a vehicle without doors yes, but I'm also not likely to be wearing a seat belt in it either. If something were to happen I would at least have a chance to bail, and nothing to get in the way. Convertible? Well let's just say they aren't as prone to roll over as a lifted 4wd truck, or truck period for that matter. I don't think I said anything about they should be taken off the road, just giving my opinion and view of the situation, which just happened to have been possibly the exact opposite of what everyone else said. Ok so you don't like me for it, if it made one person stop and think about a side of tube doors (or no doors for that matter) other than the fact that they just look cool, then I'm glad I made the post.

we would not allow you to ride without the harness on or at least the factory belts in the rigs i run with, on the street in your own rig, i dont know thats up to any in my eyes, should not even be a law. but you cant put me in a vehicle without belts unless its an emergency situation..

rollovers not really a worry for me. more likely to be hit then roll. thats where my bike/vert ref comes in. bikes hit more shit and kill then anything.

utility vehicles roll the most. pickups are behind a ways. cars and all forms of truck are 50 50 in rolls, fatal rolls too. thing is that cars are alot higher in numbers so its skewed at that look.

a well built tube door will increase visibility and safety in any accident

that being said, i dont own(they are to be constructed), or have not seen here a tube door that qualifies as that:dunno:....so this really validates points of concern, which need no validation as the potential safety issues seem patently obvious to me. i know the ups guys like cruisin with the door open for the same reasons i do with my doors removed. ask em.

and i love the open air cruising in jeeps, they just dont have the rest of the things i need, YET.

i dont understand why ppl think u can out run a rolling vehicle. my samurai usually doesnt have doors and nxt summer my ranger wont either but i always wear my seatbelt because u dont have to be going fast to fall out ive seen ppl hit a wierd bump and almost fall out of there truck on a trail. especially while sidehilling plus if u roll ur going to be so off balance and disorintated ur not going to kno which way to run or roll when ur truck is comming after u

That's pretty clever.
