This truck is killing me! Have fuel, air, spark and compression

@Rusty Shackleford Gribble
I'm no fan of troubleshooting with new components but I would change the Hall Effect sensor in the distributor, before I bought a replacement PCM. It is an inexpensive Win/wiN.

If open up your PCM, take some detailed pics and post them on here, you might learn what fails on to these PCM's.

Thanks! I tried looking physically and also online and can’t find anything that definitively says the 2.9L has a hall sensor. The only thing that comes up is a pickup coil when I search and I think that is working correctly since when I pull the spout connector, while it’s rough, the engine runs. Have you seen a hall sensor in a 2.9 ever?

Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for your help. The Ranger lives!!!!!!!!! Replaced the ECM and it fired right up. Like nothing ever happened. So lesson learned and I hope this helps someone out in the future. If it cranks but doesn’t start. If you have spark, fuel, air and compression. If the timing looks ok. Pull the spout connector and try to start it. Try with ether as well. If it fires up…..ECM. Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone. If I could, I’d buy you all a case of beer.

For the sake of thorough troubleshooting... When you did plug wires and stuff you understand that Ford numbers their cylinders sequentially, front to back, left bank first?

I do and I did. I replaced the wires one by one to ensure they went exactly where they were supposed to. Even out of frustration during my journey, I gutted everything and followed a verified diagram. The wires/firing order were never my issue.
