so i went to look at a truck im buying from a buddy. i bumped a curb with tires at full lock poping it on the van (shitty venture).

i jack it up, stick the spare on and start to let it down when this happens:pissedoff:

chevy will be getting a ear full from me tomorrow. if they refuse to replace it im sticking my old exploders bottle jack in.:icon_hornsup:

thats why i hate chevy my mom had one that came in her chevy 1500 and i was using it to jack my yota up and all of the sudden the thing just bends almost in half and the truck falls thank the lord it had 33s on it i was so ticked and it was brand new at the time no more than 6 months old. i would go down there and raise some hell and complain and cause a scene and really let them know how you fell and ask for a bigger one and let them know if you dont get a bigger jack you are going to file a law suit against them words they hate to hear and let them know you will start to bad mouth them and they will give you want you want to keep you quiet. this is the truck i was lifting i had the jack on a cinder block

thats the plan, my uncle has a van just like ours and it did the same thing:annoyed:

Holy crap. Im surprised no one has been seriously hurt by something like that if its that common.

:icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl: Wow that is absolutely pathetic. But this is one of the many reasons I don't trust these jacks.

pretty much. our red venture had the same thing happen, and they replaced it. if they dont im going to blow my top

I had put a top of the line Escort radar system in a 2007 Vette and after doing that job you can definatley tell where GM spent the money on that car. Taking the interior trim apart and it felt no different than working on a Cavalier. I can see the car having lots of squeaks and rattles as it gets older. Just one more reason why I will never buy a new car made in the US.

I can see your point about domestic cars years ago, But nowadays I think domestic cars have just about caught up and are surpassing the imported ones. Well, everyone except Chevy. I would rather a new focus than anything comparable foreign.

I still see lots of domestic stuff come thru our shop with less than 100k needing all kinds of work. I think they just build the cars to last 3 years and then they just start to wear out. To this day you still don't see grease nipples on ball joints in trucks unless you are buying a 2 ton truck.

Who needs grease when joints are lubed for life right?

Regarding jacks...I have about 10 stock Ford bottle jacks that I have pirated out of various trucks. They are terrible as far as jacks go, but at least they don't break like that piece of crap above will. Have you guys seen the bottle jacks that Chrysler gives out? They're just as bad - and the thing they give you to turn them is an absolute joke. :annoyed:

this thing couldve fell on me... i really hope they enjoy what im bring to them

http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray...AT&catcgry5=TOOLS-JACK&ListAll=All&vinsrch=no They need to make more scissor jacks that...the way crank assembly went together you could leave the tire iron part off and just stick the hook part in the chuck of a power drill...It put my car in the air in about two seconds that way.

My silverado work truck had a problem where cranking the fan all the way up made it start smoking from the passenger footwell... The mechanic said it too was a "common problem" Hopefully the problem is less common than people who crank the fan to let their car warm up and go back in the house... they might come back outside to a burning pile of crap. I didn't hate Chevy all that much until I actually got to drive one 4-6 hours a day.
