This is why I hate having a NEW vehicle..:(

Very very true.

She refused to pay for the damage.

Isn't that money yours anyway? :icon_twisted:

Shopping carts. I ram those stupid things for fun whenever I'm at the grocery store. Lazy douches who can't put them away...

I too have a horrible horrible story about my truck getting scratched.

Some f-ing prick keyed the hell out of my paint, kicked a dent into every single panel on the driverside, took a huge whole out of the passenger side bedside, and ran the thing into way too many trees.

Oh wait, that was me. It's a truck. It gets used. Alot. :D

i was a little pissed when yesterday my buddies pitbull scratched the shit out of my fender with his paw but you know what? it a truck and its gonna happen. oh well

I could not agree more. If you want a trailer queen then build one. We live in an imperfect world, its just too bad that shopping carts feel a need to migrate everytime the wind blows.

I don't want to take away from your story, but I'm not going to start a new thread. I've got a story that goes with yours.

I bought my used '06 Ranger on June 26 of this year. Even though it was a three year old Ranger, the body was MINT. Not a scratch or dent on it. This truck had been babied by its previous owner.

Anyway, on July 13th, I drove over to my parent's house to celebrate my Mom's 50th. I park in the driveway and go in. My parents keep both their vehicles in the garage.

After some time, my Dad suggests that we all go for a drive in the country in his JEEP. He's got one of the new 2-door Wranglers which doesn't see a roof for any of the summer months. Well, he fitted aftermarket steel bumpers onto the front and back of his Jeep. Big, sturdy, boxed-steel bumpers. The one in the front is actually a winch bumper. They're pretty strong.

Well, what does my Dad do when he backs out of the garage? He backs into the side of my truck with the corner of the back bumper. Puts a gouge 3 feet long through the rear passenger door, and the fender in front of the rear wheel.... Nice!!!:headbang:

I hadn't even had my brand new (to me) truck for three weeks and it was already damaged. Anyway, I haven't fixed it yet, and I have to say, I don't really care. In the days when I had my Civic SI, a dent or small scratch would have sent me around the bend. But with my truck...well, I'm a more relaxed man. I just check it for rust once in a while, and that's it.

It's actually pretty amazing, the job Ford does with their paint. A big gouge like this, and no rust at all after 6 months. When I had my 08 Civic SI, stone chips on the hood would start to rust after a while. I'm impressed with the general durability of this truck!!!

As far as aftermath, instead of having my Dad fix my truck, I just asked him to buy me a return plane ticket to New Orleans for Mardi Gras (to visit my brother). It's cheaper for him, and I value a vacation like that more than a dentless truck. I'll get it fixed myself one day if I happen on the money.

Well some people value a decent looking truck over it just being a truck. My new truck I completely babied (til said dent happened) and apart from the occationaly dump run I use my old ranger for that kinda stuff cause I don't mind dents in an older truck. But when you get a dent/scratch/gouge ect... in your new (to you) truck taht you bought for the perfect body and want to feel good about driving something that looks like you take care of it (to some that means more then others, being a college student i value my truck being old granny status taken care of over young wreckless kid who dents it and doesn't care) you don't want it getting hit.

the body on my ranger was perfect when i got it two years ago (its 97) but through high school i got a few small dents from stupid kids and swinging the door open fast enough for you to think thier car was on fire. (somtimes with me sitting in it) and i got a little upset but not really cause it is a truck now the bed rails are all dented and the fenders have been cut. tailgates half gone. and justlast week i got side swiped pulling a buddy out of a ditch. ( my buddy hit me despite being in neutral and then the breaks damn black ice...) and its not a big deal cause if he didnt do it a tree woulda or a rock. plus now hes paying for the paint when i do it in the spring :)

Heh, Im surprised this thread was brought back up. :headbang: Im happy to say I got the dents fixed about a month after the cart incident. The paintless ding guy did an excellent job. I sat there and chatted with him the whole time he did it. Took about an hour and a half. The buggy had left 5 dents. One I hadnt seen until I took it in. He got 99.9999% of the dings out. One he said he couldnt get completely perfect, (hes very picky) I looked and only noticed a VERY VERYslight ripple in the paint about a 1/2 inch long. It took me five minutes to spot it.:D

**I know this is kinda a old thread

But, I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL!
I try to keep my 01 looking as new as I can, but dings pop out of no where.

I got an estimate, for like 80 bucks each, paintless dent removal, at like 8 dings, some really small, that would be 640 bucks before tax! =[ It's the cheapest I've found though.

Lamesauce. I always feel so crushed when I get a new ding, && I always park far away.

I only paid $120 to get the 5 dents removed from mine. As I said he did an excellent job. In fact he proudly claims hes the best in michigan and told me not to tell friends because he gets to much business as it is.:icon_rofl: Hes a one man shop.

After reading this thread, why DO they still use sheet metal?

If we had plastic fenders instead(not fiberglass I mean plastic) there would be MUCH less dents that would need fixed(the plastic would just bounce back out)

I know many cars the 1/2 bottom is all plastic, and it works great. I know vehicles like my '87 Ranger that has NO protection from shopping carts are at a great risk of dents!

yes this would work but i just cant bring myself to drive a plastic car. especially when it gets to -30

My truck had some very minor scratches, until my buddy leaned his dirtbike against the side while it was running. Since the end of his grips were torn, it just leaned bare metal against the side while the bike slowly walked its way backward about 8 inches.

I was pissed at first, but I didn't buy a truck to make it look pretty. I just try to avoid large dents.
