I was going through some pics of mine and this one, I thought, was priceless.

A built trailer next to my Hobart welder. It just screams "If you can build this custom trailer, you can pretty much build anything with a Hobart 140."

nice work....:icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

for Hobart to use it in a ad, the welder needed to be better aligned in the shot.....:D

possibly for a promation that Hobar/Anheiser Bush funded event...looks like a beer can on top of it. "With Hobart welders, and a 6pack of Bud, you can accomplish anything on a Saturday afternoon"

Actually, that's a Coke Zero can... :D

I don't drink. But I love that Coke! :icon_twisted:

Nice pic, do you use flux core wire or shielding gas?

Nice pic. I can't wait to get going with mine. As you know I got the HF unit, but I also want to use my Lincoln Arc this summer. I need to learn the ins and outs better, but practice is how I'm going to do that. The weather isn't being my friend right now though.

Flux core on everything. Best stuff to use outside since the wind has very little effect on the weld quality.

i like that trailer, how expensive of a build would that be?

It all depends. The tongue, hitch, tongue jack, side rails, rear loading ramp, some chunks of square tubing, and some 5/16" angle iron costed me around $220 I believe. This trailer was already a trailer from when I made it in highschool, so this was a recycling project.

What I have found to be the best way to go is to buy on of those Northern Tool trailers (4X8) that go for $500, but they go on sale from time to time for $300. Then weld whatever you want on that one.

It's all about the type of material used, how much of it, and how thick it will be(i.e. 3"x3"x1/4" square tubing is much more per foot than 3"x3"x1/4" angle iron)

I'd say, in the ball park for every piece, even the axles and such, it'll be $800 to replicate this trailer, but smaller materials may have it around $500.

i like that trailer.

i'm thinking of getting a 140 with my tax return. i have a trailer that has a wood bed that desperately needs to be repalced.

I love my Hobart 140! It was actually you IronRanger that convinced me to get it:icon_welder:

Alright! :icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

It is, I believe, the most affordable, yet most reliable and best performing welder on the market.

I've sold my 140 to a coworker who needed a welder and upgraded to a Miller 211 w/spoolgun. This unit is quite a bit heavier than the 140, but it's got the capability to weld 3/8" steel if needed. Plus, I wanted aluminum welding (spoolgun) for whatever comes my way this summer! :icon_bounceblue::icon_welder:

Thank you!

Usually (depending on who the supplier is), you can get a deal with the 140's. It'll either be on sale or a free welding cart.
