Thinking of an exhaust for my truck...

I got a new truck and i am not sure what to get for and exhaust system. I want somthing to give it a distinct and agressive tone but not annoyingly loud. Its a 99' 3.0L.

just drill some holes in your exhisting exhaust. lol
or magnaflow super 44's i've been told sound nice...

not trying to step on toes, but i think you mean flowmaster super 44s, yes this will decent. a cherry bomb extreme will sound pretty sick. or a thrush muffler will sound good.

ive always liked the sound of the edelbrock mufflers. havent heard too many people use em, but i always like the sound.

I saw that other post and i think i am going to go with the dynomax full system, i mean you can't beat 100 bucks for the pipes and a muffler, i will just swap the mufflers if i don't like the sound.

you laugh but I've done it, my roommate parked his jeep on a stump and crushed the muffler. so we had to drill holes in it to keep it from being to loud so we didn't get kicked out of the park vs. cutting it off.

I dont know much about dynomax so nothing against them....but it is a general rule of thumb that you get what you pay for.

Well i really just want the piping that i can put a muffler in, that way i can keep my stock exhaust intact and i can put it on if i need to for whatever reason. It will give me a 2.50" cat back exhaust for 100 bucks which is bigger and cheaper then getting the pipe from like napa or something.

That's what I did. I ordered the dynomax system a while ago, and I just ordered a thrush welded muffler to go with it today.

I have the 3.0 in my 92, i put a thrush welded on it with 2.25 tail pipe and it sounds great, has a sweet idle to it but not much drone but wakes up when u stab the go peddle.

Im waiting to get my video uploaded to youtube, but i have a 99 ranger 4.0, I just cut the muffler out, inserted a cherry bomb, cut off the rear curve of the pipe so it would go out straight back against the bumper with a 3" outlet. Sounds pretty sick. Not annoying loud either. Just a nice agressive sound. If you have the funds I would run dual exhaust with 2 cherry bombs. Ill let ya know as soon as i get a video up.

Flowmaster 40 series. i have the 4.0 but get a flowmaster or cherry bomb and bring it out the side in front of the rear tire adds a bit of sound i think than running it to the bed. i have the 40 series dual out, but i wouldnt recommend dual out for a 3.0,

Well i got the Dynomax system and i couldn't be happier, its mellow and gives a good sound at first start and sounds amazing after a couple hours on the highway when you finally pull off.

Heres a vid after it was first put on. I'll get a vid of the highway sound later...

My Ranger was getting about 15 miles per gallon city before I installed my new Borla muffler. After installing it, my miles per gallon went up to 18. I was thrilled about this, especially since I was just looking for sound. Another added bonus was the performace. I could feel more torque and horsepower the instant I drove it.

I'll admit, it wasn't the cheapest exhaust. I could have gotten a $30.00 Cherry Bomb but I researched and shopped around for months and I finally found what I was looking for. The muffler ran me around $140.00 or so w/ all the clamps and etc. It has a million mile warranty, and is made of stainless steel. Not to mention it looks pretty good from underneath - especially with a nice coat of polish on it.

All in all, I am 100% sold. I will continue to buy Borla parts for all of my vehicles. If you are interested in quality, performace, fuel economy and sound, I'd definately look at the Borla Exhaust line.

You musta had a pretty messed up exhaust to be seeing MPG gains... I notice a whooping .5 mpg gain just because I changed the way I drove. And a Cat Back exhaust system will net you little to absolute zero in performance gains...

Hi Original_Ranger84. Can you post your truck's photos so that I can determined what will be the best exhaust system that will fit in your truck also in your preference. :D
