Thinking of 5.0 swap...

I am throwing the 4r70w behind my 5.0. I got it for 405 shipped to my door.

The 4 cyl motor don't share the same bellhousing. Use either a mustang 5 spd (the BW T-5) or a M5OD-R2 (out of a full size ford)...

Hey guys, new to the forum, and a huge noob in general
I'm also doing some (very long term) planning for a 5.0 swap, trying to get educated.
I've got a 2001 3.0L, 5 speed - also an m50d-r1 I guess, and I would love to keep it manual.

Would this bell housing work with the explorer 5.0?

Perhaps I should be asking first, can the stock 5 speed m50d-r1 handle a V8?

Welcome to TRS Use the search button at the top of the page. It will help with your research. Your truck needs a 2000 explorer V8donor, as its all plug and play. No the trans will not bolt up to a V8, you need the M5OD-R2 (from a full-size truck, 97+ with a 4.2L V6 engine), this will bolt in, clutch line will fit, etc.

It won't bolt up, nor would it last 5 minutes if it did, it's to weak to handle a V8's torque.
