Now that my Jeep has become my wheeling toy, my Ranger is my daily driver. I'm getting incredibly poor gas mileage, and the 3.0 is die hard, but totally gutless.

I've been contemplating selling/trading my truck for a 73-79 3/4 ton or a full size solid axle Bronco.

I posted an add on craigslist and got a lot of responses to it. I guess my truck is very desireable.

I'm also trying to figure out a price. I'm looking for some rough suggestions. I know modds can bring the value down, but I'm in CO and a lot of people here enjoy wheelin but not doin the dirty work. (The fun stuff)

So here's the specs:

2000 Ford Ranger XLT ext. cab, step side
3.0L 182ci V6, 4X4, 4R44E Auto w/ OD
3 body lift
Torsion bar crank/2" shackles
4.10:1 gearing
Live front axle (vac. hub trick)
31 Spline Exploder 8.8 with disks and a trac loc
Custom Tube bumper w/ baja lights
Custom Light bar (for step side) with baja lights
On Board Air

KBB value is $7,310.

What would you guys expect SOMEONE to pay for this beast?

I know exactly how you feel about the 3.0, mines always feeling underpowered.
I'd much rather have the 4cyl and get better mpg, but the truck was a good deal so I went for it. ($900 on mine)
I ended up fixing a leak in the oil pan and a stretched out throttle cable with no other problems.

If you want something that gets better milage a 3/4 ton anything or a fullsize Bronco is the wrong way to go.

If you don't wheel your Ranger just unlift it until its milage suits your needs.

I think (hope) he was referring to the mpg as a sacrifice, as in if hes going to take the bad mpg hes gonna want to get some power out of it.

Keep the ranger.

Wheel the jeep till it dies.

Then SAS the ranger with the axles out of the jeep.

I think that was one of the options in the poll you posted just before getting the jeep.

a full size bronco isnt going to get you better gas mileage....

I'm with you on this...at least past the first lines...My Ranger, with 3L, it a total gutless POS, I'm looking at a focus (going to take it for a test drive tomorrow), it gets piss poor mileage, is gutless, and really isn't good at hauling since it has the huge sub box in the back (previous owners thoughts), and I don't take it wheeling since there is a whole lack of wheeling buddies (everyone owns civic's or sunfires), and theres not many good trails in the Calgary area, without a good hours + drive. There is no justification for me keeping it...and wow, with a $70 bar tab with beer alone, i'm amazed I spelt "justification" properly ont he first try, unless I'm too drunk to notice....where the drinking thread when need it?

My last truck was a '74 F250, my Ranger gets more than double the mileage a that POS. Not to mention the added benefit of a working radio, intermittent (as opposed to 2-speed) windshield wipers, oh yeah, and seatbelts.

Hey, Shoeboy: how often do you drop $70 at the bar? Ever crunched the numbers on how that could translate into a nice car payment? Just thouhgt I'd mention that...

So far i've been offered:

A 78 F150 4x4 short cab / short bed with a 400m

A 79 Full Size Bronco 4x4 w/ a 351w

A 90 F350 351w 4x4 with only 50,000 miles. Also has camper.

A 87 F150 W/ a 4" lift

My last 4 bar bills have been under $15 each time (excluding last night, I've had a shit-tacular week so far and its not over yet) I've been to the pub 3 times this month.

Right on, and I see that you are still up early... bright eyed and bushytailed?

:threadjacked: hehe

hmmm i agree man. unlift it, toss stock size or some 31's on it. and just use it for a dd. OR you could trade it for a ranger like mine (Gen 2)

I would definitely loose the big tires...unless you find a dd that is better on gas...

I saw a Ranger like mine on the 14" el cheapo rims and at first I thought it looked crappy (OK, it did look crappy) but then I realized his mpg would be way better than the larger/wider tires...sometimes we gotta sacrifice things to survive...
