like the title says i am thinking about going 351 in my truck (83 ranger), but would like to hear from some of the guys out there that have done this swap.

what was the hardest thing or the biggest problem faced when doing the swap

how is it 4 towing

and any other bits you guys want to add

Used a 302 but wished I would have went 351W.
351 is a little wider so headers would have to be built from scratch but hell nobody makes one that will fit a 302 without issues (for 4x4).
If I knew then what I know now (witch still ain't much) I would have found a 351 donor out of a 94 and up 250 van and went that route.
I know where there are 3 sitting that can be bought for $185.

Actually Total Performance out of michigan makes a 351w swap header. Thats the ones i have. I dont have any idea if they would work on a 4x4

I replaced the 5.0 roller in my Ranger with a 351C. Make sure you have the rear sump oil pan in which ever 351 motor you decide to go with. The transmission will bolt up and the motor mounts should work.
