after smashing my bed in the snow today I got to wondering about puttin' on a stake/flat bed. any input? 86 ranger 4x4,4 in lift, 31 in mudders

Man, we barely got a dusting down in W. Seattle today. Nothing on the road, some left on the cars though.
 
I myself Like the bed, unless you go really nice something like this:

If you're lifted it's a lot better idea. The tire clearance is crap if the truck isn't higher. Unless you cut out over the tires. It's easy to do though, just get bushings and square steel and run it along the frame, weld on crossmembers, weld a deck to that and BAM! A roughly done flatbed. The hardest part is dealing with the gas tank(s) and filler necks.
 
if you look in your bed, you will see a little grove running down both sides beside the wheel wells inside the box, i always liked flat beds that were cut on that grove and just leaving the flat part of the bed, on offroad trucks that is.
 
we were snow wheelin at EVANS CREEK and those beds look KILLER! That is ME! New plan get a 97 4 Litre shortbed stick and that bed with 6" lift and 33-12.50R15 Destination M/T's -:yahoo:
