I am thinking seriously about getting some mt's for my 84 BII, but i don't want noisey ones. I worked at a tire shop for about a year and didn't like any that I saw come through. If I don't find anything I like I'll just go with toyo at's since they are preety aggressive for an at tire. Please post up what mt's you have and how annoying are they on the highway.
thanks in advance
Wes

My swampers are very noisy but I wouldnt own anything else, however my maxxis are fairly quiet and do good offroad as well

My BFG KM1's are pretty decent on the highway. My Dunlop Mud Rovers are kinda loud, I got them used though.

The big thing with a MT is to stay on top of rotating or you will have a howler.

My firestones are actually quite quiet for having an aggressive tread. Work awesome offroad as well.

Yes, yes and yes. I love my MTR-K's and even unbalanced there are smooth & quiet.

Compared to the old school MT/R you can see where Goodyear radically changed the design when they made the MTR-K. It is an asymmetrical tire so the sides won't match but it helps for recovery digs. You have to be sure to mount them the side out it states. The solid block line in the center greatly improves on road manners and NVH.

Can you tell I like my tires:D And to think I wouldn't have got them if BFG had stock of the KM2's in the size I wanted. Best accident ever.

i'm betting it's because your hood scoop lets so much engine noise out you couldn't hear the tires no matter what!! :icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

jk. not sure how long you've had those tires, Mike, but what do you think you get for miles (or klicks) out of them? are they decent on ice as well as snow? they do look good on your truck!!

and how did you paint your bumpers? were they chrome before? that's what i'm wanting to do to my chrome ones.

Yes I'm sure that's it:icon_rofl:

On a serious note I haven't had them that long but they seem to be wearing quite nicely. I don't know what to expect for life span but I'm sure they will outlive the hell out of a BFG KM2. That band in the middle really helps with road manners and wear. In the snow they have been fantastic. They just claw at the snow and hook. And they clean really easily, although the center section grabs snow like a winter tire.

My bumper was painted steel not chrome. It's an enamel coat for industrial machines I picked up at Acklands.

KM2s a pretty shortlived tire?

I might have 5k on my Rubicon KM1's, they still look new. Haven't seen snow yet.

i know they are unknown to most of u guys, but for the price i think they arent that bad.
what u guys think about these?

sorry if im jacking the thread

I'm running them in 31x10.50's on my 97 daily driver.....they are noisy...and this is coming from a guy who is used to running 36x12.50 bias ply swampers...

thats exactly the size i want for mine, i wont mind noise that much.
i know that with a 2wd even mt tires wont make it unstoppable, but they look nice
im concerned more in wear. how are yours wearing down?

Seem to be wearing fine....they were used when and came with the truck when I bought it.

Have to say, out of all the tires I've run or driven on (company vehicles) the new MTR K is my favorite.... But I haven't tried them in winter yet.

They are QUIET, work great on rock, mud and grip wet pavement well. Im quite happy with them. They are smooth and hopefully they'll wear well, I've only had them since July.
