thinking about buying this stereo

Dual is known for having very poor quality... Couldn't recommend gambling the $300. For around the same price, you could get a low end HU from a quality brand, which will have better sound quality than that unit, and then also get a low end flip down DVD player/screen. Which should have at least as good picture quality as that one, and probably a bigger screen. The variable you would also remove is the motor on that flip out Dual failing on you and leaving you tuneless.

any reasons for specifically going with that deck? for $300 you could get a alpine 9887 off of ebay. way better SQ. and the MS Live cashback is up to 14%.

ebay is as much a gamble as buying a dual i comes with a warranty which i thought i would use ill look into that deck does anybody else have any recommendations

then how about this one
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11771_Clarion+DXZ785USB.html

it has high voltage preouts, 2way and 3way crossover settings, 3 band parametric eq, rear usb hookup and a 1 year sonicelectronix warranty. some people have compared the sound quality to the drz9225, which is saying alot.

that ones pretty cool but im looking for several things
a touch screen /dvd player with motorized faceplate
ipod conection
and under $300

i used to have a dual 8181 and they are garbage, if you must have a screen save up for a halfway decent one.

1. it sounded like crap very tinny sound, even when i was running an alpine v12 4ch amp and polk 5x7's getting 70w rms it still never sounded good.

2. the screen motor wears out within 6 months, i babied mine and they still get stuck halfway sometimes

3. NO soundshaping or eq, all you have is bass and treble adjustments. no high pass filters,

4. they skip like crazy if you have loud subs or drive on crappy roads.

there are no pros except having a screen but that gets old quick,
id definetly go with a double din if you have a 95+

if you trying to stay under 300, id find a decent used higher end unit compared to a low end or knock off brand (dual/Jensen)
