Thinkin of gettin a dog...

I know everyone has thier choice of K-9's, but make sure you get a good one whether it be from the animal shelter or not. I personally can't stand anykind of pits. Everyone I have come encountered with are pure aggression & that's a waste. Two of my neighbors have a pit 1 is 65 lbs, 2 is 70 lbs. I have been around all kinds of K-9's and my favorite are Dobies and Rotties, I am on my second Rottie I have a picture of him in my avator. This breed is everything you need and can want in a K-9. Yeah thier size is alot bigger then what most want, the 2 pits tried to attack me and my Rottie on different days and those 2 found out real quick they are messing with the wrong Dog. At 135 lbs those pits and other dogs who tried to attack from the negativity of the owners and the way I trained mine, my Rottie has always protected me from no matter what. Even 1 time he protected me when a mountain lion tried to attack, I have never seen him be that aggressive and the big cat ran away real quick.

I'll stay with my Rotts.
I've had the opposite experience with Pits. At the kennel I worked at for a year, the majority of the dogs we had were Pit Bulls, and the majority of them were the nicest dogs you've ever seen. I'm not really a fan of the breed but when raised properly they can be very sweet dogs.

For me it's either, Border Collies, Aussie Shepherds, or Heelers.
The chow was more practical and I think had more self control, but it is nice to have a dog you can take places that very rarely takes offence to anything.
Chows are fawking sons of bitches, I had one when I was younger, that dog is probably burning in hell. Same goes for all the Chows that ever came into the kennel.

Probably the only breed I actively hate is the chow however I dislike labs and German shepherds for the most part, maybe I'm weird?

Everybody says it, but ours didn't fit the typical discription of a chow. She was kind of a shorthair version too, she wasn't really poofy like most. The only person she ever bit in her 15 years was the vet when she was a puppy when he took her temp, honestly I probably would too if I didn't know what was going on. When you gave her a chew she would very gingerly take it with her two canines on one side out of fear of hurting you. Our lab kind of does the same thing, but being a klutz he usually drops it in the process.

But if you were something that snarled at her it was on.

i personally like the Beagle, there good tracking dogs for hunting and awsome pets for just around the house. I have a terry-poo, i love that dog to death he thinks he all big and tuff (him being 16" tall to the shoulders) but when you get close he cowards down, and he's a hyper little thing

its awesome the only downside is it is very expensive to train your dog like that.

yeah itsthe dob is my mothers dog if i were to get a dob i would have it trained like that though what i want is a husky

i currently got a sheltie, it looks like a collie but smaller. she is a purebread and a great dog. from time to time she is a little hyper and gets real upset when her owner, me, leaves the house. i'm wanting to go down to the dumb friends league and get a mutt or something in hope of calming her down with a playmate. i'd like to get a austrailian cattledog but i would take any good dog that would need a good home. i'm 100% for getting dogs from shelters.

here's a pic of my 110LB dobe and my 75 LB black lab
my lab was adopted from miami dade animal services the day before he was to be put down and my dobe was givin to me by his owner,as far as the lab goes he very smart, very hyper, and very friendly but not a very good guard dog.
the dobe was policed trained with all german commands but was never used and is very protective of his house and my girlfriend but friendly.

that is seriously so bad ass, police trained doberman.....I'am assuming you are unable to speak german though. One time I went into this business in downtown Los Angeles, I dont remember what kind of dog it was but the owner of the company(and the dog) said that he had been trained to understand body language so if anyone were to have "bad" intentions that dog could pick up the vibe and do something about it.

i don't speak german but i know all his commands in german except for his attack command.the other thing about dogs is that they pick up on shady people trained or not but that is cool i would like to see that dog in action.

I'm double down on dogs today--usually I ust don't like them. While I was up on the hill working a black lab decided to have a good time with the chickens. There's feathers everywhere and one of the birds suffered a pretty massive bite wound. I really, really felt like blowing the feathers off that dog. Worthless creature.

are the commands telling the dog what to do just in German? Then you could just look up what "attack" is in German.

I have 2 and I know because I have used my bare hands and arms to train them to make sure thier pressure is there.

Must be a rottweiler owner thing. I used the same technique on my Rott. years ago. If you could hold your arm up with 120# of "Goob" hanging on it then he would stay there shaking you. Many a time I had blood running down my arms after playing with him. He was also the biggest "baby" ever. Loved his belly rubs & loved to wrestle w/ my nephew.

My first Rott was 133 and he was no joke. My second is 135 and he is so much stronger in his jaw and he has lock jaw and he will not let go. I also taught him German commands since German is part of my heritage. I give commands in English and German and he understands every part of it. Within a year I am getting a female and will do the same teachings on her, I am not breeding since my male is fixed and she will also be fixed. I am going thru the same breeder from Riverside area.

I understand buying a dog from a breeder but you should save some money and save a life. RESCUE!

yup and he understands a few in english, and as far as the attack command i was told it is not just the word attack in german and i don't know much about how police K9's are trained so it's hard to know i would like to get someone he does not know put a bite guard on his arm and see if i could get him to attack.
any volunteer's?

My favorite breed of dog are pitbulls.. Once you get past the bad reputation they are great obidient dogs and a very good natured. I always got a kick oughta the suprize factor most people have with pits b/c they are so far from what everyone believes they are and they normally weigh less than 100lbs. If you could find a rescue pit lab mix in a pound they tend to be a much less active version of the pit but still have the best qualities like the loyalty and good nature. The dog I have not is a pit lab mix and hes the best dog I have ever owned

O and I had to train him to be a lap dog he didnt start this way and he weighs about 80 lbs. Hes gettin old though and starting to have health problems mostly my fault I think b/c I dont take him on runs enough and share my junk food with him. I think if I get another pure bred down the road it will be a mastiff or another pit.
