so i have a set of 33x12.50x15's on my b2 lifted 4in with the stock 7.5 and 3.73's... got the toyo tranny and things have been working fine untill i drove from AZ to CA. after i hit palm springs i noticed it was making some whining noises that weren't normal. i was cruising around 60 is all. low RPM's and in 5th gear no less. so at a gas station i checked things and made sure all was well. even pulled the shifter off to make sure the tranny had some fluid. it did. and i figured i had to get the last 100 miles in. so i noticed that the noise happened in all gears EXCEPT 4th... kinda wierd but whatever, i just put it in 4th and cruised round 50 or 55. got mostly to my girlies house when i pulled off the freeway and stoped at a stop sign. and when the light turned green, i let out the clutch in first gear. and then everything went nutz. the tranny shook and clicked and clacked. and rattled... and the truck kinda jolted forwards and as i got moving i pushed the clutch back in to coast into a parking lot to try to fix the problem.

i took out the rear driveline just to make sure the rear end was good. and it still made the clicks and whatnot. so its def tranny related...

it is quiet as long as i have my foot on the clutch, but in any gear, including neutral with out the clutch pushed in it makes noises that could wake the dead...

so what did i do? or did i just fry the tranny from driving long hours in the desert with big tires?

ok.. if i go 4.0 i'll just swap it with a m50d... is this bearing something that is known to fail? and what could i do to keep it from doing that again?

Get the better tranny is the best thing you could to reduce the likely hood of it happening again.

Yes it is something that is known to fail. Yours is not a unique occurance.
