thermostat problem

How to "burp" your puppy truck:

Back on topic:

How do I get the air out?

I've found the simplest way is to park on a slight upslope, and ideally "crooked" to the right, so that left front corner of vehicle is the highest point.

If reservoir has no/low coolant, add some immediately after parking, while hot. NOTE the EXACT level in res bottle.

An hour or more later, see if radiator has sucked in any coolant. If NOT, may need a new rad cap. Regardless of draw-down from reservoir, open radiator cap... if not filled right up to the neck, ADD coolant until it is. Replace cap tightly.

I had to repeat this 2 or 3 days in a row after flushing my loop and replacing all hoses. Yet during this period, I did not notice any "fluctuating" of the temp gauge... and you can bet I was paying extra attention.

I thought that was what the Fail-Safe's do, they deliberately stick open in the event of overheating.
I think that any time you go through 3 of ANY brand t-stat's you probably have another underlying prob.
try back flushing system,
cleaning rad fins,
check belt,
check fan clutch,
and last but not likely, check waterpump flow.

Chances of 3 bad t-stats in a row are unlikely, in any case the F-S brand stick open causing too much flow, not overheating.

That's their purpose.

WHY would you attempt to answer a TWO YEAR OLD THREAD???
It's ok to read them and try to get some education... but for gods sake leave them in the BACK where we all don't have to reread them again!

Excuse me big jim, I oppologize for you having to scroll over something that didn't apply to you.I didn't even notice the date,
I'm new here and to forums all together.

My question to you is, does it make you feel like a man to be such a prick about it,
or do think the other guys in here will think that's cool?

way to ingratiate yourself with the forum....I mean you do have 6 posts.........IMHO it is always better to survey your environment and figure out what is going on........ before jumping into the fire.........I don't know Big Jim M other then reading his posts..............I agree sometimes he comes off a little grumpy and impatient .........however he is one of the more knowledgeable and helpful members on the forum.........it's what you call a "package deal".........I guess you could get the wrong info from a very polite person and be happy..............best of luck....... :)
