So I was thinking about changing my thermostat to a 180 degree one... But had a few questions.

First, does anyone recommend (or NOT recommend) any specific brands? Summit Racing only lists two (Stant and JET) altough I probably wouldn't be ordering it online anyways, I want to know what to stay away from.

Second, has anyone had problems with a 180 thermostat and the stock fan setup on a 2.9l? I plan to toss an electric (Probably from a taurus) in there eventually, but there is a lot of shit to do on my truck right now.

Thanks.

My advice is to just stay with the stock rating of whatever you have. The lower temp rating of any thermostat increases the wear on the engine, needs to be kept up to proper temp.

Yes I have, that is one of the things that makes me think a 180 thermo would be good, but he also runs two electric fans, which I have no plans on, just one.

I wouldn't waste your time or money. All you will accomplish is burning more fuel and more wear and tear on your engine.

It is all designed to operate at a certain temperature.

So what is your recommendation for temp range on a t-stat? I was going to get one the other day but figured I better ask whats the best on here first. Thanks in advance.

The stock 195 degree.
