I have an 04 ranger with the v6 4.0L engine and for the past two years my thermostat housing has busted the seal. It seems to be weather related as it only happens in the transition from Fall to winter. I am running the correct percentage of water to coolant. The last time I did it I replaced the thermostat its self. Does anyone else have this issue or any good ideas on how to fix it any help is much appreciated.

my guess is that your bolts are too tight. you might check to see what you are torqueing them at.

I am assuming this is a plastic thermostat housing...if so, see if someone has a metal aftermarket housing and go from there.

For the PITA that thing is to change out, its probably worth it to drop the 180$ and get it. Bet it wont ever leak again.

The plastic POS is not a matter of if it will leak, its a matter of when. Just replaced it on my dads 03 ranger. Unfortunately I didn't discover the metal one till after, so that blows. Don't make the same mistake I did.
