Theft light flashes when truck is off

It will flash like once every 3 seconds when I have the truck off and key out and door closed. Is this normal or is there a problem with the theft system? This is on an '02 btw. Thanks

The theft light should flash when the truck is off and the key is out.

that is the whole point of an anti-theft light. the only thing my 08 does is set there and flash to make people think that it actually has an anti theft. Unelss its on when trying to start the truck then its back to the dealer for the 5th time to reprogram the key the computer seemed to forget about

When you try to start it and then it flashes and you only get dashes across the odometer, then you have a problem. Other wise this is normal.
